The October edition of Brazilian magazine Quatro Rodas, issue 810, is available in print and digital formats and examines a fresh expansion of Chinese automakers in Brazil. Its cover story looks at the local plans of BAIC, DFM, iCAUR, IM Motors and Xpeng, with offerings ranging from commercial vehicles to high-performance luxury cars. The magazine frames this as a new phase after the earlier arrival of brands including BYD and GWM.
The issue also details a broad slate of Chinese models, including the Caoa Changan CS55 and GAC GS9, both tested by the magazine. Other vehicles covered include the Jaecoo 5, Tank 400, Omoda E5, Jetour G700, Leapmotor B05 and BYD Atto 2.
In a separate comparison, Quatro Rodas puts the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V through its test track. The RAV4’s plug-in hybrid setup makes its Brazilian debut, while the CR-V uses a conventional hybrid system. The magazine also reports driving the hybrid Audi Nuvolari in California; it produces 1,001 hp and is positioned as a successor to the R8. Its BMW iX3 test covers the Neue Klasse-based electric SUV, whose 108.7-kWh battery is claimed to deliver 805 km of range on the WLTP cycle. The issue also previews Renault’s Niagara pickup, planned with manual and automatic transmissions and 4x2 and 4x4 versions.
