Autoblog Argentina tested the GWM Ora 5 HEV, a hybrid crossover offered locally through Grupo Antelo for $30,990. First shown in China in 2025, the Ora 5 uses GWM’s Guiyuan platform, which also underpins versions with combustion, plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains. The review placed it among a crowded Argentine price band and cited the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid and MG ZS as alternatives.
The test car measures 4,471 mm long, with a 2,720 mm wheelbase, and weighs 1,550 kg. Its cabin was praised for materials and front-seat comfort, with electrically adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, a 10-inch instrument display and a 14.6-inch infotainment screen. Rear passenger space is more limited, and luggage capacity ranges from 272 to 1,088 litres. The equipment list includes seven airbags and a broad suite of driver-assistance features; Euro NCAP results were not yet available at the time of the review.
Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged Miller-cycle petrol engine and an electric motor. GWM quotes combined output of 223 hp and 351 Nm, paired with a 1.09-kWh battery and a two-speed DHT transmission. In testing, the Ora 5 reached 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and a measured top speed of 181 km/h. Fuel use was 5.8 L/100 km in mixed urban driving and 6.3 L/100 km at 120 km/h.
The reviewer found it comfortable and composed on the highway and through bends, but reported unexpectedly forceful braking from the front cross-traffic system in response to roadside objects. The conventional hybrid setup also means buyers can use it without installing a home charger.
