SAIC's IM Motors launches revamped L6 sedan with lower entry price to challenge Tesla and Xiaomi

IM Motors, the electric vehicle brand under SAIC Motor, officially launched its overhauled L6 sedan on Friday, positioning the model against the Tesla Model 3, Xiaomi SU7 and Xpeng P7 in China's 200,000–300,000 yuan pure-electric sedan segment.

The three standard trims — Max, Pro Max and Ultra — carry limited-time promotional prices of 199,900 yuan, 217,900 yuan and 259,900 yuan respectively. The entry version undercuts the pre-sale price announced on August 18 by 20,000 yuan, a 9.1 percent reduction. Purchase incentives include a 10,000 yuan cash discount, 41,600 yuan worth of upgrades and a lifetime battery warranty for the first non-commercial owner.

A second sales round has opened for the Prof. Jimmy Choo bespoke limited edition, offered in two versions at 219,900 yuan and 237,900 yuan after the initial batch of 1,000 slots sold out. The co-branded car is set apart mainly by exclusive exterior colors, a blue interior and embroidered branding.

The sedan measures 4,924 mm long with a 2,950 mm wheelbase. Rear-wheel-drive variants pair 245 kW with a 76 kWh pack (725 km CLTC) or 300 kW with a 93 kWh pack (850 km CLTC), while the dual-motor Ultra delivers a combined 500 kW and 800 Nm, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.74 seconds with 840 km of range from its 103 kWh battery.

Every trim rides on an 800-volt NEO electrical architecture supporting peak charging of 396 kW, which the company says can add up to 580 km of range in 15 minutes. A fully by-wire chassis — featuring Continental's MK C2 brake-by-wire system and four-wheel steering that turns the rear wheels up to 18 degrees — brings the minimum turning radius down to 4.39 meters. The driver-assistance system, jointly developed with Momenta, uses the supplier's world model to offer map-free NOA. Inside, a 26.3-inch central display, a 15.5-inch front-passenger screen, a B&O audio system and a 5.7-liter heating and cooling refrigerator all come as standard.
