Smart has unveiled the #2 in Paris, returning to the compact two-seat city-car format associated with its Fortwo. The electric model is about 2.75 metres long and 1.67 metres wide. Deliveries in Spain are planned for the second quarter of 2027, where the entry price will be €19,990. Smart is equally owned by Mercedes-Benz and Geely.

The #2 uses a new ECA platform and a rear-mounted motor producing 82 hp and 130 Nm. Its top speed is 140 km/h, and Smart quotes 0–100 km/h acceleration in 11.6 seconds. A roughly 36 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery is rated for up to 290 km on the WLTP cycle. DC charging reaches 65 kW, taking the battery from 10% to 80% in about 20 minutes; AC charging is 7.4 kW on the base version and 11 kW on other trims. Vehicle-to-load capability is also included.

Smart highlights a safety cell made with more than 78% ultra-high-strength steel, seven standard airbags and a 305-litre boot that can expand to 527 litres. The car also features independent five-link rear suspension and a 6.95-metre turning circle.

The four Spanish trims start with the Pure at €19,990, followed by the Pure+ at €20,990, Premium at €24,490 and a 999-unit Couture Edition at €25,690. Brabus and convertible versions are expected in the second half of 2027. The Fortwo ended production in 2024; the strictly two-seat #2 has no direct rival, though the article names the Renault Twingo E-Tech and Citroën ë-C3 as alternatives for similar buyers.
