Tata Motors has introduced the 2026 Tiago, its entry hatchback for the Indian market, with a starting sticker of Rs 4.69 lakh — roughly Rp 87 million. Indonesian coverage has framed the car as a size rival to the Toyota Agya and Daihatsu Ayla, though the new Tiago is not currently sold in Indonesia.
Mechanically, the hatch sticks to familiar city-car proportions: 3,767 mm long, 1,677 mm wide and 2,400 mm between the axles. A 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers 86 PS and 113 Nm in standard form, while the factory iCNG version drops to 75.5 PS and 96.5 Nm. Five-speed manual and AMT gearboxes are offered, and Tata notably allows the CNG variant to be paired with the automated transmission — a combination rarely seen in this price bracket.
Inside, the refresh brings a flatter, more horizontal dashboard, a 26.03 cm floating touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, a wireless phone charger and connected-car functionality. Automatic climate control with rear vents, a cooled glovebox, a Type-C fast-charging port and soft-touch armrests round out the comfort list, while top variants add passive entry and power-folding mirrors.
Safety kit is generous for the segment: six airbags are standard across every trim, joined by ESP, traction control, hill-hold assist and a tyre-pressure monitoring system, with a 360-degree camera reserved for select versions. Pricing spans Rs 4.69 lakh for the Smart MT up to Rs 7.99 lakh for the Creative CNG — Indian market figures that exclude any import duties or taxes should the car ever be sold elsewhere.
