Argentina’s first auto show devoted exclusively to Chinese brands is set to bring 26 automakers to the Costa Salguero venue, with 15 product launches planned. BYD, the country’s top-selling Chinese car brand, will not take part in the event.
The show’s organizer said BYD declined for internal commercial reasons and expressed hope that it would join future editions. BYD Argentina has not issued an official statement, but people close to the company described the decision as strategic: they said a show organized around brands’ national origin was not a natural fit for BYD, which would consider attending a broader auto show.
Those sources also noted that BYD operates directly in Argentina rather than through an importer. The company has appeared at other local events, while some of its dealers take part in regional exhibitions.
