Xpeng has completed trial production of the G9L SUV at Magna’s facility in Graz, Austria, as it prepares the model for a global premiere in Paris on October 12. The first European-built example finished trial production on October 7. Xpeng says the vehicle will make a 1,324-kilometer journey from Graz to Paris to assess its safety, charging and driving performance in real-world conditions.
The G9L will be Xpeng’s fourth model assembled in Europe. Production uses Magna Steyr’s contract-manufacturing operation at an existing plant, rather than a factory owned and built by Xpeng. The company began European production with the G6 and G9 SUVs in September 2025, and the 2026 P7+ sedan later completed trial production at the same site.
Xpeng says it plans to bring the G9L to 64 countries and regions, but has not disclosed when European mass production or deliveries will begin, or which powertrains will be built locally. In China, the five-seat flagship went on sale on September 17 with battery-electric and extended-range electric versions. Its limited-time starting price there is 231,800 yuan (about $34,300).
Xpeng is also preparing the G9L for right-hand-drive markets. The first mass-produced right-hand-drive vehicles came off the line at the company’s Guangzhou plant on September 11 and were being prepared for shipment to Australia.
