Xpeng has previewed the Mona L05, a five-seat SUV it plans to launch in China in the fourth quarter of 2026. The company introduced the model in a Weibo post on October 12, describing it as a spacious vehicle aimed at younger buyers. It has not announced a specific debut date or price. The L05 will sit above the smaller Mona L03 in Xpeng’s lineup.

Regulatory filings list the L05 at 4,870 mm long, 1,930 mm wide and 1,636 mm tall, with a 2,940 mm wheelbase. Buyers will be able to choose between a battery-electric version and an extended-range electric vehicle. The BEV uses a 71.1-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, with a reported CLTC range of 615–660 km depending on the variant. The EREV pairs a 37.2-kWh battery with a 1.5-liter range extender. Both versions use a motor rated at up to 183 kW (245 hp).

Xpeng is adding SUVs as it seeks to raise sales. CEO He Xiaopeng said in an August 24 earnings call that the company aimed to exceed 60,000 monthly sales in Q4, with the L05 among the models expected to contribute. Xpeng delivered 41,256 vehicles in September, up 5.5% from August but down 0.78% year on year. Third-quarter deliveries reached a record 118,390, while the 284,367 delivered in the first nine months were 9.2% below the same period a year earlier. September deliveries of the Mona L03 topped 10,000 as production capacity continued to ramp up.
