XPeng plans to launch its GX and G9L flagship SUVs in the Middle East next week, with local pricing to be revealed at that time. The company has not named the launch markets or provided regional configurations and delivery dates. It says orders for the GX in the region are approaching 4,000, while large-scale shipments to the Middle East and Africa are already under way.
The automaker has signed distribution agreements with partners in Nigeria, Oman, Kuwait and Albania. Its overseas network now covers 83 countries and regions and includes more than 1,200 stores. XPeng says it will work with local distributors on introducing vehicles, building brand awareness and setting up service networks. It has also held briefings on its Kunpeng range-extender technology in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait.
The GX arrived in China on May 20 as a six-seat SUV with battery-electric and extended-range versions. Cumulative deliveries passed 30,000 by Oct. 22, and September deliveries were 7,224. The G9L went on sale in China on Sept. 17 with five seats and the same two powertrain types. XPeng showed a fully electric G9L in Europe at the Paris Motor Show, with six- and seven-seat layouts; details for the Middle East remain unannounced.
XPeng’s overseas sales reached 10,055 in September, up 100.94% year on year. For the first nine months of the year, overseas sales rose 100.11% to 59,479, or 20.92% of deliveries. Total deliveries over that period were 284,367, down 9.20% year on year.
