BAIC's Arcfox to launch Alpha T7 SUV in China on September 16

Pre-orders for the EREV-and-BEV mid-to-large SUV topped 30,000 in three days, with post-subsidy prices starting at 137,800 yuan (about $20,330).

BAIC's Arcfox marque has lined up September 16 for the market debut of its Alpha T7 SUV, according to a report by local outlet Auto Home. The company has not confirmed the date through its own channels, though it noted on Weibo that the first display cars have reached dealerships nationwide. The model is positioned as the brand's mainstream-family volume play and its flagship launch of the year.

Pre-sales opened on August 26 with post-subsidy pricing of 137,800 to 174,800 yuan, and Arcfox says orders surpassed 30,000 within the first 72 hours. Buyers can choose from nine rear-wheel-drive variants — five pure-electric and four extended-range.

The electric versions run on an 800-volt architecture with a 227 kW motor, delivering either 650 km (75.4 kWh pack) or 715 km (84.8 kWh) of CLTC range depending on trim. The range-extender models pair a 1.5-liter generator with a 43.9 kWh battery for 320 km of electric driving and 1,315 km of combined range. Measuring 5,020 mm long with a 3,040 mm wheelbase and a coupe-style roofline, the SUV offers 645 liters of cargo space, expandable to 1,845 liters with the rear seats folded.

Driver-assistance hardware varies by trim: the four top variants carry Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 Pro with a concealed LiDAR, some other versions rely on BAIC's in-house Yuanjing system with a roof-mounted LiDAR, and the base EREV trim offers neither. CATL supplies the cells across the lineup, and Magna helped tune a chassis with adaptive dampers. After years of weak sales, Arcfox is counting on the T7 to finally build scale.
