BAIC will bring four SUVs to the third Expo Auto Chile, held Sept. 3–6 at Espacio Riesco in Santiago. The free-entry event, also known as the International Chinese Auto Expo, is expected to gather around ten brands and manufacturers. BAIC’s display spans the urban-focused X55 and the BJ-series models, which are positioned for greater off-road use.

The BJ30, the first model in BAIC’s new BJ series, is 4,730 mm long and has a 2,820 mm wheelbase and 215 mm of ground clearance. It seats five and is presented as a vehicle for both everyday driving and rougher routes. The more overtly off-road BJ40 measures 4,630 mm long, offers 210 mm of clearance and has a 532-litre boot, expandable to 965 litres with the rear seats folded.

The larger BJ40 PRO has 220 mm of ground clearance and a stated wading depth of 750–800 mm, depending on configuration. Its powertrain choices are a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine rated at 241 hp and 386 Nm, or a 2.0-litre diesel producing 161 hp and 390 Nm. Both pair with an eight-speed automatic and AWD.

The X55 rounds out the display as BAIC’s more city-oriented SUV. Its 1.5-litre turbo engine produces 185 hp and 305 Nm, matched with a seven-speed DCT. The article frames the lineup as a way to demonstrate BAIC’s range from urban crossovers to vehicles designed for more demanding terrain.
