BMW ended Z4 production when the last car left the plant in Graz, Austria, in May, but the roadster is getting a second life. Andreas Bovensiepen launched a new company under the family name after BMW formally acquired Alpina in early 2026, and its Bovensiepen Spider is a reworked Z4 M40i capped at 99 examples worldwide. It follows two earlier efforts: a Zagato-linked 4-Series and the 800-hp 05 GT based on the M5 Touring.
The styling changes are restrained — model-specific fender vents, a gloss-black front splitter, side skirts and a larger rear spoiler — shaped with input from former Ferrari and McLaren designer Frank Stephenson while preserving the Z4's overall look. Inside there are Vernasca leather and Alcantara seats, a Lavalina leather steering wheel in the Alpina tradition, and an optional leather-trimmed dashboard.
The 3.0-liter turbo inline-six gains revised intake and exhaust systems, lifting output from 340 PS to 435 PS (about 429 hp) with 580 Nm of torque. The ZF eight-speed automatic is the sole gearbox, and Bovensiepen quotes 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds against 4.5 for the stock car. Retuned dampers, 20-inch forged wheels on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires come standard, while an optional Performance Package brings an aluminum differential cover, an underbody V-brace, a top-speed increase from 260 to 295 km/h and uprated brakes.
German pricing starts at €115,500 (roughly 4.43 million baht), and buyers can push that higher through the Bovensiepen Saddlery personalization program, which offers paint-to-sample colors, Alcantara-lined luggage bays and bespoke interior finishes.
