BYD has introduced the Atto 8 to Europe at the Paris Motor Show, adding a large, fully electric seven-seat SUV to its range. UK deliveries are expected to begin in early 2027. The model is positioned against rivals such as the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Skoda Peaq. UK pricing has not yet been announced; the article expects it to sit above BYD’s Ti7 plug-in hybrid, which starts at £47,995.

Two versions are planned for UK buyers. The rear-wheel-drive Design uses a single 455bhp motor and is listed with a WLTP range of 405 miles. The all-wheel-drive Excellence adds a front motor for a combined 764bhp, with range falling to 374 miles. BYD says its Flash Charging system can take the battery from 10 to 97 per cent in nine minutes. Even at minus 30 degrees, a 20-to-97 per cent top-up is claimed to take 12 minutes. The company aims to establish 3,000 Flash Charging stations across Europe by the end of 2027.

At five metres long, the Atto 8 offers 270 litres of luggage space with all seven seats in use, or 1,960 litres with the back two rows folded. Standard equipment includes a panoramic roof, a 15.6-inch infotainment display with Google built in, a 10.25-inch driver display and a head-up display. Heated, ventilated and massaging seats are provided for the front occupants and the outer middle-row seats. The Excellence also gets a 21-speaker audio system and a front cabin fridge; the standard system has 10 speakers.
