BYD has unveiled the Atto 8 at the Paris International Motor Show, presenting it as its flagship seven-seat family vehicle for Europe. The large electric SUV uses the company’s second-generation Blade battery, an LFP pack with 115 kWh of capacity. BYD says the battery can charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes, or to 97% in nine minutes, when connected to a compatible Flash Charger. European showroom arrivals are planned for the first quarter of 2027.
The Atto 8 measures 5.04 metres long, 2.00 metres wide and 1.76 metres tall. Its cabin includes a 2.38-square-metre panoramic glass roof and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen. BYD describes it as the largest and most luxurious model in its European lineup.
Two powertrains are planned. The rear-wheel-drive Design produces 455 hp, reaches 100 km/h from rest in 5.8 seconds and has a claimed WLTP range of up to 651 km. The all-wheel-drive Excellence uses two motors with a combined 764 hp and 774 Nm, accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and is rated for 601 km of WLTP range.
The nine-minute charging claim requires BYD’s second-generation Blade battery and one of the company’s Flash Chargers, which can deliver up to 1,500 kW. BYD plans to install 3,000 such chargers across Europe by the end of 2027. Charging speed will depend on the available output at other public stations; at temperatures as low as minus 30°C, BYD gives a 12-minute estimate for charging from 10% to 97%.
