BYD unveiled the Atto 8 at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, presenting it as its largest and most expensive SUV for Europe. The seven-seat electric model is due at European dealerships in the first quarter of 2027. It measures 5.04 meters long, 2 meters wide and 1.76 meters tall, and features a 2.4-square-meter panoramic glass roof and a 15.6-inch infotainment display.
Both versions use a 115-kWh second-generation Blade battery. The rear-wheel-drive Design produces 461 hp, reaches 100 km/h in about 5.8 seconds and has a claimed WLTP range of 652 km. The all-wheel-drive Excellence uses two motors for a combined 775 hp and a 0–100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds; its stated WLTP range is 602 km.
BYD says its Flash Charging system can take the battery from 10% to 70% in five minutes, or to 97% in nine minutes. That claim depends on using BYD’s own Flash chargers, which can supply up to 1,500 kW; charging speed on third-party networks will depend on their available output. The company plans to have 3,000 Flash stations across Europe by the end of 2027.
In temperatures as low as -30°C, BYD says charging from 10% to 97% takes 12 minutes. The Atto 8 will compete in Europe’s growing three-row EV segment, where the article also names the Skoda Peaq. BYD’s stated range figures use the WLTP test cycle and may be lower in real-world driving.
