BYD’s next-generation Seagull—known as the Dolphin Mini in Mexico and the Dolphin Surf in Europe—has been shown with Flash Charging 2.0, according to the first official videos cited by TestCoches. The system is identified by a small blue lightning-bolt badge on the tailgate. BYD says the car could charge from 10% to 97% in nine minutes, including a 10%-to-70% charge in five minutes. At -30°C, the reported time to go from 20% to 97% is 12 minutes.

The car is expected to be offered with 30-kWh and 39.2-kWh battery packs, but the source does not confirm that both will support the fastest charging. Flash Charging requires BYD’s second-generation cells, and earlier-generation batteries remain in production, so the smaller pack may continue to use cells that cannot charge at the same rate.

The new model measures 4.20 meters long, 1.81 meters wide and 1.57 meters tall, with a 2.65-meter wheelbase. Its length increases by 425 mm compared with its predecessor. All versions are set to use a 129-hp electric motor driving the rear wheels. A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor will be available to support the most advanced version of BYD’s God’s Eye driver-assistance system. Six exterior colors are planned: green, orange, pink, gray, white and blue. Further details are expected after the car’s official presentation.
