Brazil’s September 2026 vehicle-registration rankings put the BYD Dolphin Mini first in six states and the Federal District, adding three state-level wins to the four territories it led in August. The Fiat Strada remained a leader in 13 states. Together, the two models topped the rankings in 20 of Brazil’s 27 federative units and shared the top two positions 14 times.
The Federal District’s top five were all Chinese models. The Dolphin Mini led with 653 registrations, ahead of the GWM Haval H6 at 445; the larger BYD Dolphin fell from first in August to fifth, with 381. The Mini also won in Alagoas, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Acre, Amapá and Roraima. In Rio Grande do Norte, the Strada edged the Geely EX2 by just four registrations, 189 to 185. The EX2’s national tally dropped from 5,804 in August to 2,724 in September.
In São Paulo, the Haval H6 placed third with 2,901 registrations, 39 ahead of the VW Polo. The article links the SUV’s appeal in the state to newly available flex-fuel hybrid versions that qualify for IPVA tax exemptions. In Minas Gerais, Fiat models occupied four of the top five spots, with rental-company purchases contributing to the concentration of Argo, Pulse and Mobi registrations.
In Rio Grande do Sul, the VW Saveiro topped the list with 549 registrations, nine more than the Dolphin Mini and 12 more than the Strada. The Mini had led the state in August, when the Geely EX2 was also first.
