BYD has released exterior images of the third-generation Qin Plus in China, advancing a staged preview of a major update to its Qin sedan family. The images were shared on Weibo on Oct. 21 by Lu Tian, who leads sales for BYD’s Dynasty lineup. They show the plug-in hybrid DM-i version in a new Island Blue color, with a wide front end, fastback profile, wider-looking rear and full-width taillights featuring a Chinese-knot motif. BYD has yet to disclose a price or launch date.

The electric Qin Plus has separately appeared in a Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology product catalog. Its listed dimensions are 4,840 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,498 mm high, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase. The five-seat EV is specified with a 100 kW permanent-magnet synchronous motor, a lithium iron phosphate battery and a top speed of 170 km/h. Those filing details apply to the electric version, not the DM-i hybrid shown in the teaser images.

The current Qin Plus is the Qin family’s entry-level line, with EV and DM-i versions priced from 79,800 yuan to 131,800 yuan. The family also includes the Qin L and the Qin Max. The update comes as sales have weakened: Qin models sold 23,472 units in September, down 65.27% year on year, and 207,589 in the first nine months, a 54.71% decline. BYD launched the 2026 Qin Plus DM-i in January with a maximum CLTC electric range of 210 km.
