BYD introduced the Atto 8 at the 2026 Paris Auto Show, making it the Chinese automaker’s first model with flash charging for the European market. Known in China as the Tang L, the electric SUV will have three rows of seats in a 2+3+2 layout. BYD executive vice president Stella Li presented the vehicle. European sales are due to begin in the first quarter of 2027, but the company has not announced a price.

The Atto 8 uses BYD’s second-generation Blade LFP battery, with a 115-kWh capacity and a claimed WLTP range of 653 km. BYD says it can charge from 10% to 97% in nine minutes, or from 19% to 70% in five minutes. Charging takes three minutes longer at minus 30°C. The company plans to install 6,000 flash chargers outside China by the end of 2027.

The SUV’s combined output is rated at 570 kW, or 764 hp, enabling a 0–100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h. It measures 5,040 mm long and has a 2,950-mm wheelbase, along with a 136-liter front trunk. In China, the Tang L EV is priced from 222,800 to 272,800 yuan. BYD delivered 4,426 units there from January to August 2026, down 87.5% year over year. For comparison, the existing seven-seat Tang EV in Germany is listed at €47,990 on BYD’s website.
