BYD's Fang Cheng Bao has added a pair of performance EVs to its portfolio with the debut of the Formula S coupe and the Formula S GT shooting brake. Styled after the brand's Formula X supercar, the two models are explicitly aimed at established players in the mid-to-large electric sedan class, namely the Xiaomi SU7 and Tesla Model 3, with the coupe starting at 189,900 yuan (about 27,900 USD) and the GT at 219,900 yuan (about 32,300 USD).
The headline hardware is the newly introduced DiSus-M intelligent magnetorheological suspension, which tunes damping in milliseconds. Both cars also flash-charge quickly, going from 10-70% in five minutes and 10-97% in nine. Rear-drive versions make either 245 kW (329 hp) or 300 kW (402 hp), while the AWD flagship combines for 490 kW (657 hp); CLTC range peaks at 900 km. Driver assistance comes via the God's Eye B system with LiDAR, supporting both highway and urban NOA.
The coupe measures 5,060 mm long with a 0.22 drag coefficient, while the GT runs 5,025 mm in length and 1,458 mm in height with a 0.25 Cd; both share a 2,960 mm wheelbase. Inside, buyers get a 26-inch AR-HUD, a Devialet sound system and zero-gravity seats. A modular cabin ecosystem — PIN, magnetic and threaded mounting points — lets owners snap on accessories ranging from ambient lights and shortcut buttons to karaoke gear.
