BYD’s next-generation Seagull is set for a China launch on October 20, 2026, with reservations already open since October 9. Also known in some overseas markets as the Dolphin Mini or Dolphin Surf, the small electric car is getting larger, more powerful and potentially much quicker to charge. BYD has not yet announced final pricing, and there is no confirmed timetable for the updated model to reach Colombia or other markets.
The new car measures 4,205 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,570 mm tall, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase. That makes it 425 mm longer than its predecessor, with 150 mm added between the axles. It has five seats and a rear-mounted motor rated at 129 hp (95 kW), up from 75 hp in the previous Seagull. Two LFP battery capacities, 30 kWh and 39.2 kWh, are listed, with China’s CLTC figures indicating ranges of 320 km and 420 km depending on configuration.
The headline charging claim comes from BYD’s second-generation Flash Charging system: a compatible battery can charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes and reach 97% in nine. BYD also says charging from 20% to 97% can take 12 minutes at -30°C. These results require both the appropriate battery and charging equipment, with chargers rated up to 1,500 kW; they should not be assumed for every version or public fast charger.
Equipment may include a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor paired with the DiPilot 300 driver-assistance system, known in China as God’s Eye B. The cabin gets a floating central display, physical controls for some functions and a redesigned console. Six initial exterior colors are listed. The article notes that these figures should not be confused with those of the Seagull currently sold in Colombia, which is advertised there with NEDC ranges of up to 300 or 380 km and conventional fast charging.
