BYD’s luxury brand Yangwang is preparing the Altior, a large electric sedan positioned as a rival to the Rolls-Royce Ghost. The car’s appearance has been partially revealed in a teaser and a spy photo, prompting a design rendering by Kelsonik. The article says Yangwang is also nearing its arrival in Brazil, but gives no Brazilian launch date or Altior market schedule.
The Altior’s front end is expected to echo the Yangwang U8 SUV, with a prominent grille and distinctive lighting. Images show a bronze-colored body with a contrasting hood, a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, rear-hinged doors and traditional-style wheels. The sensor is expected to support BYD’s God’s Eye driver-assistance technology. At the rear, the lights appear horizontal, with a more restrained design than the front.
The sedan is reported to be 5.50 meters long, 10 centimeters longer than the Ghost, with a 3.50-meter wheelbase. Adaptive suspension is among the technologies it may inherit from other Yangwang models. If it uses the U9’s powertrain, four electric motors would produce 1,306 metric horsepower and 160 kgf·m of torque. Those are the U9’s figures, not confirmed Altior specifications: the U9 also has an 80-kWh battery, a claimed 465-km CLTC range and a 0–100 km/h time of 2.4 seconds.
