BYD plans to install 100 flash chargers in Europe by the end of 2026, company officials said at the Paris Auto Show. The automaker is targeting 3,000 units in the region by the end of 2027. Its first European charger was installed in Germany in June, and the company has also placed chargers in other European countries, including the UK.

Each BYD flash charger can provide up to 1,500 kW of DC power through a single connector. Vehicles fitted with the second-generation Blade Battery can charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes, or from 10% to 97% in nine minutes. BYD currently operates 12,165 flash chargers in China and says it plans to deploy 20,000 charging stations worldwide by the end of 2026.

The Denza Z9 GT is currently the only BYD-made car sold in Europe that can use flash charging. BYD expects more compatible models to arrive in the market. The all-electric, seven-seat Atto 8 is due in Europe in the first quarter of 2027 and will be the first flash-charging model there to carry the BYD badge. It is specified with a 115 kWh LFP battery, two motors producing a combined peak 570 kW, and a WLTP range of 653 km. Europe is expected to account for half of BYD’s planned 6,000-unit overseas flash-charging network in 2027.
