BYD introduced the next-generation Dolphin Mini in China on October 20, where the hatch is sold as the Seagull. The entry price is 65,900 yuan (about R$49,400), 4,000 yuan below the 2025 model’s starting price. The range now spans five versions, topping out at 99,900 yuan (around R$74,900). BYD has also indicated that the new model is expected in Brazil around 2028, alongside the current generation.

The car has grown to 4.20 metres long, 1.81 metres wide and 1.57 metres tall, with a 2.65-metre wheelbase. That adds 42.5 centimetres to its length and 15 centimetres to the distance between the axles compared with its predecessor. It now has five seats, and its larger footprint puts it closer in size to the Dolphin GS and the Geely EX2.

The two entry trims use a 30.1 kWh battery, with a claimed 320 km of range; the three upper versions have a 39.2 kWh pack and a claimed 420 km. Both figures use China’s CLTC test cycle. Flash Charging is reserved for those upper trims, starting at 75,900 yuan (about R$56,900). BYD says compatible equipment can charge the battery from 10% to 70% in five minutes, or to 97% in nine minutes. Power comes from a rear-mounted motor rated at either 85 kW or 95 kW, and the car gains independent multi-link rear suspension.

The cabin drops the separate instrument display, shifting driving information to a 15.6-inch central screen. Higher trims can include electrically adjustable, heated and ventilated front seats, driver massage, a 50 W wireless phone charger and a LiDAR-based driver-assistance package. BYD’s Brazil plan, confirmed by a senior executive at a July event in Camaçari, is to keep the existing locally produced hatch as the entry option; Brazilian prices, specifications and availability of Flash Charging have not been announced.
