BYD put the third-generation Qin Plus DM-i on sale in China on October 27, with three trims and limited-time prices from 76,900 yuan ($11,450) to 97,900 yuan. Their official guide prices are 79,900 yuan, 90,900 yuan and 100,900 yuan, making each version 3,000 yuan cheaper during the promotion. The updated plug-in hybrid retains BYD’s fifth-generation DM technology and offers up to 220 km of CLTC electric range, compared with 210 km for its predecessor.
The sedan is larger than the outgoing model, measuring 4,840 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,498 mm high, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase. It pairs a 1.5-liter engine rated at 74 kW with a 120-kW electric motor. Buyers can choose 16.2-kWh or 24.3-kWh lithium iron phosphate batteries, supporting claimed CLTC electric ranges of 140 km and 220 km. BYD says charging from 30% to 80% takes as little as 20 minutes.
The company also claims up to 2,290 km of combined range with a full tank and charged battery, and fuel use as low as 2.58 liters per 100 km under the NEDC test cycle when the battery is depleted. Optional LiDAR enables the God's Eye B driver-assistance package, including navigation assistance for city and highway driving. The cabin adds DiLink 150, an 8.8-inch instrument display and a 10.1- or 12.8-inch center screen.
The launch comes amid weaker Qin family sales: September deliveries totaled 23,472, down 65.27% year on year, while sales for the first nine months reached 207,589, a 54.71% decline. The Qin lineup also includes the Qin L and Qin Max; a third-generation battery-electric Qin Plus has appeared in regulatory filings, but this launch is for the DM-i hybrid.
