Volkswagen has begun selling the ID.4 through Brazilian dealerships after three years of offering it only through its Sign&Drive subscription program. The Pro version costs R$299,990 and pairs a 286-hp rear motor with an 84-kWh battery. Its comparison here is the updated 2027 BYD Yuan Plus AWD, priced at R$269,990 and equipped with two motors and all-wheel drive.

The Volkswagen is longer, has a longer wheelbase and provides 543 liters of trunk capacity. The BYD is wider; counting its 101-liter front trunk, its combined cargo capacity reaches 591 liters. The ID.4’s larger battery corresponds to an Inmetro-rated range of 389 km, versus 378 km for the Yuan Plus. The BYD, however, leads decisively in performance: 449 hp, 57.1 kgfm of torque and a 0–100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds, compared with the ID.4’s 286 hp and 6.7 seconds. It also supports DC charging up to 205 kW, against 185 kW for the VW.

Equipment favors the ID.4 in several areas, including a panoramic roof, three-zone climate control, heated and massaging seats, and seven airbags. The Yuan Plus has a larger 15.6-inch multimedia screen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument display; the VW’s screens measure 12.9 and 5.3 inches. The comparison frames the ID.4 as the more balanced choice, while the BYD is aimed at buyers prioritizing acceleration. The article also notes that plug-in hybrids dominate Brazilian sales in this segment.
