A Brazilian comparison test found the updated BYD Yuan Plus AWD the stronger overall buy against the Volvo EX30 Cross Country, with a R$45,000 price advantage. The BYD is priced at R$269,990, versus R$314,950 for the Volvo. Both electric SUVs have dual motors and all-wheel drive: the Yuan Plus produces a combined 449 hp and 57.1 kgfm of torque, while the EX30 delivers 428 hp and 55.4 kgfm.
Despite the power gap, both completed the publication’s 0–100 km/h test in 4.2 seconds. The Yuan Plus also recorded a longer range: 378 km, compared with 327 km for the EX30 Cross Country. Its updated 74.9-kWh battery supports DC charging at up to 205 kW. The Volvo uses a 69-kWh battery, with DC charging up to 153 kW.
The BYD scored well for practicality, with more rear-seat room, a 490-litre boot and a 101-litre storage compartment under the hood. The Volvo’s boot holds 318 litres, or 400 litres with the space beneath its cover included. The test praised the EX30’s more compliant suspension and less intrusive driver-assistance alerts; it found the Yuan Plus’s revised suspension noticeably firm and its warnings prone to irritation. The BYD’s larger displays and more usable cabin layout were also advantages. The article notes that the EX30 is built in China too, but concludes that the Yuan Plus’s equipment, range and lower price give it the comparison win.
