The reader poll for 2026's standout industry moments at Vietnam's Car Choice Awards has entered its final sprint, with the five leading events together drawing around 150,000 ballots according to the tally current as of the evening of September 17, 2026. The shortlist is an unusually varied one, spanning a closely watched model debut, the country's push into vehicle exports and a pair of electrification milestones.
Out in front is the March 30 debut of the Omoda C5 SHS-H, a hybrid from Omoda & Jaecoo, Chery's twin brands, with 34,328 votes. Launch pricing ran from 669 million dong for the Premium grade to 749 million dong for the Flagship, with promotional offers from 599 million dong; list prices now stand at 619 and 669 million dong, and September buyers can claim up to eight years of free fuel plus a first-year 8% interest subsidy on the Premium. Rather than a conventional unveiling, the brand put the car through repeated head-to-head checks against rivals on price, equipment, refinement and running costs, with beauty-pageant winners giving the occasion extra star power.
Second, on 30,281 votes, is the August 14 shipment of Ninh Binh-built Hyundai Creta units to Mexico and Australia by assembler Thanh Cong, which wants Vietnam to serve as an export hub for the Korean brand. It is targeting 15,280 exported vehicles and parts this year and expects volumes to average about 60,000 units annually over the longer run.
VinFast fills the remaining two places. Its nationwide "gas to electric" trade-in tour, third on 25,526 votes, moved nearly 1,000 electric motorbikes in its first two days at a Hanoi park, roughly 600 of them swaps from other brands' petrol bikes. Fourth, on 24,511 votes, came the June 12 milestone of the brand's millionth electric motorbike, a red Feliz II rolling off the Hai Phong line almost eight years after the original Klara appeared in November 2018.
