In a test drive in Russia, the refreshed Changan Uni-S 4x4 showed how the model has changed from its front-wheel-drive predecessor. The key addition is an electrically controlled BorgWarner multi-plate clutch that can send drive to the rear wheels. Changan developed this all-wheel-drive setup specifically for the Russian version. The familiar 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 181 hp and 280 Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The update also brings a redesigned front end and rear light bar, while the cabin gains a new dashboard, a 10.25-inch instrument display and a 14.6-inch multimedia screen in the higher trim. The reviewer found the interior more comfortable and better finished, though some everyday controls are buried in the touchscreen. Boot capacity remains 475 litres, expanding to 1,415 litres with the rear seatbacks folded.

On the road, the Uni-S is calmer and its suspension absorbs uneven surfaces more effectively, but the added all-wheel-drive hardware makes it heavier and slower: the claimed 0–100 km/h time rises from 8.1 to 8.9 seconds. Eco mode keeps the car front-wheel drive; other modes adjust rear-axle engagement. The system is intended to improve stability on wet roads, snow and rough tracks, rather than make the crossover a serious off-roader. Test-drive fuel consumption was about 8–9 litres per 100 km.

In Russia, the Luxury grade costs 3,079,900 rubles, while the better-equipped Techno is priced at 3,249,900 rubles. The review lists a 188 mm ground clearance, 180 km/h top speed and a combined fuel-consumption figure of 8.3 litres per 100 km.
