Chery’s Omoda C5 is a compact crossover sold under the Omoda brand and in some markets under Chery or other local names. First shown at Auto Guangzhou in November 2021, it entered production in February 2022 and went on sale in China in the second quarter of that year. In China, the model was renamed the Chery Tiggo 5x High Energy in late 2024, with exterior styling changes. The vehicle is also known as the Omoda 5, and its electric version has been marketed as the Omoda E5 or C5 EV.
Petrol powertrains vary by market. They include a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine rated at 108–115 kW and 230 Nm, paired with a CVT, and a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine that produces 147 kW and 290 Nm in the Chinese-market version, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Some 1.6-litre versions offer all-wheel drive. The electric model uses lithium-iron-phosphate batteries; listed capacities include 61.06 kWh and 58.9 kWh, with a 50.6 kWh pack specified for a Thailand-market version from 2026.
The five-door SUV measures 4,351–4,447 mm long and has a 2,610–2,630 mm wheelbase. Its production and assembly span China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iran and Thailand. A first overseas-market facelift appeared in September 2024, followed by another update unveiled in October 2025.
