Denza N8L goes pure-electric in China: 130 kWh battery, ~960 km CLTC range, 10-97% charge in about nine minutes

BYD's premium Denza marque has launched a battery-electric take on its large N8L SUV in China, where it will be sold alongside the existing plug-in hybrid. Two grades are on offer at RMB 299,800 and RMB 329,800, and despite carrying a larger battery the EV actually undercuts the hybrid's RMB 319,800 entry price by about RMB 20,000.

Measuring 5,200 mm long with a 3,075 mm wheelbase, the N8L EV seats six in a 2+2+2 layout. Its 130.15 kWh second-generation Blade battery sits on an 800V platform and delivers up to 960 km on the CLTC cycle (778 km WLTP) — by comparison, the same pack manages only 850 km CLTC in the four-wheel-drive Great Tang. BYD claims a 10-97% charge takes roughly nine minutes, while the launch drivetrain is a single rear motor rated at 370 kW, or about 496 hp.

Driver assistance comes via God's Eye 5.0, running on one LiDAR, five millimeter-wave radars, twelve ultrasonic sensors and twelve cameras, with highway assist, urban navigation assist and automated parking on the feature list. The six-screen cockpit also debuts BYD's DiClaw AI assistant, and the 208-liter front trunk even gets a drain valve so it can be rinsed out with water.
