BYD’s Denza brand is preparing an all-electric version of its N9 flagship SUV, according to a vehicle filing published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The model appeared in batch 413 of the ministry’s catalog for public comment, with the comment period running from November 4 to 10. Listing is a regulatory step, not final approval for sale.

The filing describes a three-motor all-wheel-drive setup with a combined peak output of 890 kW. The front motor is rated at 270 kW, while each of the two rear motors produces 310 kW; the listed top speed is 240 km/h. Two model codes specify the same dimensions and powertrain. Both offer five- and six-seat layouts, and measure 5,270 mm long, 2,030 mm wide and 1,830 mm tall, with a 3,125 mm wheelbase.

The electric N9 retains the model’s exterior design and has roof-mounted LiDAR. A panoramic glass roof and powered side steps are standard, while a two-tone body is optional. Its lithium iron phosphate battery uses cells from BYD subsidiary FinDreams Battery, but the filing gives no capacity, driving range or charging figures.

The N9 has been sold as a plug-in hybrid since its March 2025 launch. Its flash-charging edition, introduced on May 18, starts at 409,800 yuan ($61,000).
