Denza Z9 GT EV range set to welcome an entry-level 1,140 hp tri-motor version on September 9

Denza, BYD's premium marque, has confirmed through a Weibo post from general manager Li Hui that a new pure-electric e3 version of the Z9 GT shooting brake will be revealed on September 9. The company positions it as an answer to buyers who want tri-motor performance but prefer a less heavily equipped cabin, citing demand for "more lightweight configuration choices."

Mechanically nothing changes. The car keeps the 850 kW (1,140 hp) three-motor AWD setup producing 1,210 Nm, BYD's Blade Battery 2.0 with 800V flash charging, and rear-wheel steering that turns up to 10 degrees each way. To hit a lower price point, the trim reportedly swaps the e3 Performance's carbon-ceramic discs for ventilated cast-iron units and drops luxuries such as the dual-compressor fridges and the massaging, power-adjustable rear seats. Official pricing and specs will follow at the launch.

Denza stresses that its wording about a lighter configuration has nothing to do with the high-downforce prototype seen near the Nürburgring, which is strictly a track-validation mule rather than a showroom car. The Z9 GT has been sold in Europe since April from roughly 115,000 euros, where tri-motor versions are rated near 600 km WLTP.

Timing matters: after climbing from 712 units in March to 6,025 in June, domestic deliveries eased 11.3% month-on-month to 5,344 in July. Priced in the 330,000-yuan bracket, the new trim takes direct aim at the Zeekr 001 AWD, which tops out at 580 kW against the Denza's 850 kW.
