A flood-damaged Zotye Z8 is being offered for VND 59 million in Vietnam, according to a social-media listing cited by local news reports. The seller says the five-seat SUV has been cleaned, but its engine has not been started since the flooding. The seller reportedly avoided trying to start it because of limited experience handling flood-damaged vehicles.
Leaving the engine off may reduce the risk of further damage, such as hydrolock, if water has not entered the cylinders. But that remains only a possibility: the vehicle has not been inspected to establish whether water reached the engine. Listing photos show a white SUV with apparently intact exterior panels and wheels, but do not reveal the condition of the engine bay, cabin or electrical systems.
The Z8 is a China-imported SUV with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and automatic transmission. It was sold in Vietnam around 2018–2019; comparable examples from those years are advertised for roughly VND 270 million to VND 300 million. At VND 59 million, this damaged vehicle is priced at about 20–22% of that range, a difference of approximately VND 210 million to VND 240 million.
Flood exposure can affect the transmission, control units, wiring, sensors and infotainment equipment, with corrosion or electrical faults sometimes emerging later. Zotye parts and repair expertise are also relatively scarce in Vietnam, potentially adding cost and delay. The report says the car may make more sense to an experienced repairer or a buyer seeking usable parts than to someone looking for a dependable everyday vehicle; careful inspection is essential.
