Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor has brought the updated Forthing 5 BEV to Germany, where orders opened through importer IndiMO Automotive’s dealer network on October 23. The electric compact SUV starts at €40,995, before any delivery or preparation charges. Forthing is a passenger-car brand of Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, part of the Dongfeng Group.
The model measures 4,546 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,680 mm tall, with a 2,715 mm wheelbase. Luggage capacity is 410 litres, expanding to 1,420 litres with the rear seats folded. Its front-end and lighting design have been revised. The front-wheel-drive motor now produces 200 kW (272 hp) and 360 Nm, up from 150 kW (204 hp) in the previous version; top speed is 180 km/h.
The new car replaces the former 400-volt setup with an 800-volt architecture and uses a 75-kWh LFP battery. Despite the smaller capacity than the predecessor’s roughly 86-kWh pack, claimed WLTP range rises from 371 km to 501 km. IndiMO lists consumption at 17.2 kWh per 100 km. Reports cite DC charging of up to 160 kW and a 20-to-80% charge in under 18 minutes, but those figures were not included in the importer’s German launch announcement.
Equipment includes heated, ventilated and massaging power-adjustable front seats, a panoramic roof, a 15.6-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, driver-assistance systems and a 360-degree camera. IndiMO also handles service and parts arrangements. The vehicle has a three-year warranty with no mileage limit.
