Forthing Australia is offering a A$2,500 Visa gift card with each new vehicle purchased and delivered by December 31, 2026. The deal applies to the Chinese brand’s sole model in Australian showrooms, which launched in September as the Taikon 5. It is currently sold under names based on its powertrain after trademark challenges from Porsche and Volkswagen.
The range-extender hybrid starts at A$36,990 drive-away, A$2,000 below the advertised starting price of the Leapmotor B10 Hybrid. Its 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 75kW and 130Nm and acts as a generator, while a rear-mounted electric motor delivers 120kW and 240Nm. Forthing claims a combined WLTP range of 937km, including up to 170km of electric-only driving. The A$40,490 Exclusive grade adds a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, rear privacy glass and a powered tailgate.
The all-electric version starts at A$38,990 drive-away. Its front motor makes 150kW and 340Nm, and a 64kWh LFP battery is claimed to provide 427km of WLTP range. The range is priced A$3,500 higher for the Exclusive trim, at A$42,490. Forthing cites claimed ranges of 345km for the entry BYD Atto 3 Essential and 475km for the Geely EX5 Complete for comparison.
Forthing also confirmed plans to bring an electrified people mover to Australia, previewed by the left-hand-drive Tk7 shown at Sydney’s Everything Electric event last month. Both plug-in hybrid and electric versions are planned, but the Australian name, specifications and seating layout have not yet been confirmed.
