GAC’s AION UT electric model has been awarded five stars in Euro NCAP’s 2026 safety assessment, according to a report published on September 11. The updated protocol examines safety across four areas: safe driving, crash avoidance, crash protection and post-crash safety, extending beyond performance during a collision alone.

The UT scored 91% for crash protection, 88% for post-crash safety, 74% for crash avoidance and 66% for safe driving. Euro NCAP’s frontal offset tests found strong passenger protection, while child occupants in the second row received the maximum score in the relevant assessment. The car also achieved the top rating in the side pole test and has a central airbag intended to limit contact between the driver and front passenger in some side impacts.

Its driver-assistance equipment includes autonomous emergency braking, which the report says exceeded regulatory requirements in several test scenarios. Other systems warn occupants opening a door when a cyclist is approaching, monitor driver distraction and adjust restraint systems to the build of front-seat occupants. GAC presents the independent result as support for its broader effort to develop electric vehicles that combine technology and efficiency with safety.
