Motorpasión’s test of the GAC AION UT in Spain found a compact electric hatchback geared more toward everyday comfort than sporty driving. GAC says the model was designed in Milan, and production began recently at Magna Steyr’s plant in Graz, Austria. The same facility builds vehicles for several manufacturers and has also started assembling GAC’s AION V for Europe.

At 4.27 metres long, the UT is slightly shorter than a Volkswagen Golf, but its 440-litre boot exceeds the cited capacities of the Golf, Leapmotor B05, Volkswagen ID.3 Neo and MG4 Electric. The cabin also offers generous rear space. Equipment includes an 8.8-inch instrument display and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen; the reviewer praised the fit and finish but noted that most functions rely on the screen.

The front-wheel-drive UT has a 204 hp motor and a net 60 kWh LFP battery. GAC quotes 430 km of WLTP range, with DC charging up to 87 kW and AC charging at up to 11 kW. The test car used 13.4 kWh/100 km on a mixed urban and secondary-road route, but the drive was too short to establish real-world range. The ride was comfortable, while 10–80% DC charging takes 32 minutes.

In Spain, the Premium starts at €30,995 and the Luxury costs €31,995 before discounts or incentives. Both versions have an eight-year/160,000 km warranty. The reviewer considered the UT a practical daily car, while advising that longer trips require careful charging-stop planning.
