Geely has unveiled Smart Charging, a system combining AI developed with StepFun and the company’s fifth-generation charging station. Geely says it can deliver up to 2,250 kW. In tests with the Lynk & Co 01 and Zeekr 001, charging from 10% to 70% took 4 minutes 30 seconds, while reaching 97% took 8 minutes 40 seconds.
The system uses AI to anticipate battery temperature and adjust charging speeds in real time, keeping temperatures below 55°C, according to Geely. The company also introduced its Ultra Short Blade battery, which it says reduces temperature during charging by up to 10%.
Geely’s claimed charging times are ahead of BYD’s Flash Charging figures cited in the report. However, BYD has a much larger network: it had installed more than 10,000 fast-charging stations in China within six months of introducing its technology and aims to reach 20,000 there by the end of 2026, with expansion planned across several overseas markets.
