Geely says its fifth-generation Smart Charging system reached a peak output of 2,250 kW in tests with production vehicles. Paired with the company’s Shendun Golden battery, the setup took 4 minutes 30 seconds to raise charge from 10% to 70%. Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001 vehicles also completed a 10%-to-97% charge in 8 minutes 40 seconds, according to the company. Geely says the battery can handle charging rates of up to 12C.

The figures narrowly beat BYD’s announced results for its 1,500-kW Flash Charging system and second-generation Blade battery: five minutes from 10% to 70%, and nine minutes to reach 97%. Geely’s claimed advantage is 30 seconds in the first interval and 20 seconds in the second. Its charging system uses Xingrui PowerMind to coordinate vehicle, battery, charger and grid data, with the company reporting an average battery temperature of about 55°C and peaks below 65°C. Geely also claims micropulse charging can extend battery life by as much as 20%, a benefit that would need to be demonstrated over time in real-world use.

The headline charging performance requires compatible hardware; Geely’s separate Ultra Short Blade Battery is rated for a lower peak of 6C. High-power stations also need substantial grid capacity or stationary energy storage. BYD has announced plans for 20,000 Flash stations in China by the end of 2026 and about 1,000 in Brazil by the end of 2027. Geely’s demonstration therefore highlights both faster charging and the challenge of building a network that can deliver it.
