Geely announced on September 10 that the all-electric EX2 city car had received five stars from both Euro NCAP and ANCAP under their 2026 safety protocols. The company said it is the first Geely model to reach the top rating under these updated standards. The announcement was made in connection with World Electric Vehicle Day.

Geely highlighted driver-assistance and occupant-protection features in the tested vehicle, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance and driver-fatigue monitoring. It also cited a child-presence detection system that can send alerts inside the cabin and to a smartphone. The company did not publish category-by-category scores or confirm whether all the listed equipment is offered on EX2 versions sold in Chile.

The news comes amid rising plug-in vehicle sales in Chile. Figures from the National Automotive Association of Chile (ANAC), cited by Geely, show 1,435 plug-in electrified vehicles were sold in July, up 111.7% from July 2025. Fully electric models recorded 6,206 sales in 2026 to date, a 105.4% increase, according to the figures referenced in the announcement.

Geely Chile marketing manager Sebastián Troncoso also said the company is working to expand its distribution network, technical infrastructure and after-sales service in the country. No specific new locations or opening dates were provided.
