Geely is preparing changes to its Brazilian lineup for 2027, but has not said which models will be updated or introduced. Alex Chen, the brand’s commercial director in Brazil, said the company is also looking at expanding its offer into additional segments. He added that plans should reflect Brazilian buyers’ needs rather than simply follow the pace of launches in China.
Flex-fuel hybrids are among the possibilities being studied, but Geely has made no decision and announced neither a vehicle nor a schedule. Chen said the company recognizes the technology’s relevance in Brazil, while stressing that any offering would depend on market research. Geely is considering several powertrain types, including battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, conventional hybrid and mild-hybrid systems.
The company has 60 showrooms in Brazil and aims to cover up to 90% of the country by the end of 2026. Chen said charging infrastructure has expanded more than expected compared with concerns voiced two years ago, including in smaller cities. He described different powertrains as suited to different usage patterns: conventional hybrids may ease the transition to electrification, plug-in hybrids can suit weekday city driving and longer weekend trips, and EVs fit the urban use case he outlined.
Chen made the comments at an AutoData seminar on electrification and decarbonization on October 20, 2026. He said Brazil has substantial room for electrification to grow and estimated that it could reach around 70% by 2030.
