Geely’s Riddara pickup division has begun selling the R6 PHEV in Argentina, following its presentation at the Expo Auto Chino. Imported from China and distributed by Autos Sustentables del Sur, the compact unibody pickup is priced at $37,800. The importer has not disclosed warranty coverage.
The plug-in hybrid system combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 156 hp and 252 Nm with an electric motor and a 19 kWh battery. Geely quotes combined output of 349 hp and 914 Nm, paired with a three-speed DHT automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Claimed electric range is 82 km, while total range is 1,007 km, both figures based on the NEDC cycle.
The R6 is described as Argentina’s first compact plug-in hybrid pickup. Its listed equipment includes 18-inch wheels, a digital instrument panel, an 8-inch multimedia display, fabric upholstery, 875 kg of payload capacity and a 2,500 kg towing capacity. Safety equipment is limited to two front airbags. The vehicle also faces a 35% import duty: the importer has not qualified for the government’s tariff exemptions for electrified vehicles. The article notes that BYD’s Mako pickup is expected to reach Argentina in 2027, after production began in Brazil.
