In Vietnam, unusually low online asking prices for Geely Monjaro and Coolray vehicles prompted speculation that the brand was clearing out demo cars. The report says the listings are isolated cases, not evidence of a broader stock clearance. It describes two demo Monjaros, priced at VND 830 million and VND 860 million, and an unusually cheap Coolray listed for about VND 390 million.
The VND 830 million Monjaro is a 2025 Flagship, originally listed at VND 1.199 billion, and had been used by a dealer as a test-drive vehicle before being offered for sale. The lower asking price is around 31% below its original list price; the other demo Monjaro is about 28% below list. The Coolray is also a Flagship: it launched in Vietnam in March 2025 at VND 628 million. Its VND 390 million asking price is roughly 37% lower, while the report puts comparable resale prices at around VND 450–500 million, making this listing an outlier.
The Monjaro demo has temporary plates and has not been officially registered, so its next owner must register it as a new vehicle. First-registration fees are 12% in Hanoi and generally 10% elsewhere, with local authorities able to raise the rate to 15%. Using the Monjaro’s list price as a rough basis, the report estimates VND 120–144 million in registration tax; a plate fee of up to VND 20 million may also apply in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. That could bring the cost to put the vehicle on the road to about VND 970–995 million, before insurance and other charges.
