Geely is aiming to cover 90% of Brazil by December as it works to build confidence in the brand and support a larger customer base. Milena Martins, who leads communications and marketing for Geely in Brazil, said the company currently has 50 dealerships in 24 states. The expansion plan includes not just sales outlets, but also parts availability, staff training and service for owners across the country.
The company is drawing on its partnership with Renault, which began with vehicle import and distribution and later developed into a joint venture. The arrangement also creates a path to build vehicles at Renault’s industrial facility in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná. Geely’s parts hub in nearby Quatro Barras is intended to speed up deliveries to Brazilian dealers.
Geely says it sold more than 28,000 vehicles in its first year of Brazilian operations. Martins identified the EX2 electric compact as an important contributor, noting that some owners who drive for ride-hailing services have accumulated about 40,000 km. The EX2 has a stated range of 289 km; the EX5 is rated at more than 400 km, while the plug-in hybrid EX5 EM-i is advertised with up to 1,300 km of combined range, depending on use.
The company is also using local advertising and test-drive events, including appearances at the São Paulo Auto Show and Festival Interlagos, to explain EV and hybrid technology. Martins said charging can use portable equipment or public charging stations, with time and availability varying by circumstances. Geely’s broader Brazil strategy combines customer education, network growth and local manufacturing, while the company expects the shift to electrified vehicles to happen gradually.
