Geely has launched the facelifted fourth-generation Emgrand in China, following its unveiling the previous month. The update is also relevant to Malaysia, where this version is expected to preview the design of the Proton S70 facelift. It is not the newer fifth-generation Emgrand, which will continue to be sold alongside it as a budget-oriented option.

The China-market car keeps its naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, rated at 120 PS and 150 Nm. The entry version uses a five-speed manual gearbox, while the remaining variants have a CVT with eight simulated ratios. At 4,625 mm long, the facelift is 13 mm shorter than its predecessor.

Exterior changes include a redesigned front bumper with an eight-point grille and a revised rear bumper. In the cabin, the instrument display is now 8.8 inches, down from 12.3 inches, while the central touchscreen grows from 10.25 to 12.8 inches and runs Flyme Auto 2. Geely has also revised the centre vents and air-conditioning controls, and added new door trim and a tan interior option.

Prices range from 68,900 yuan (about RM42,100) to 82,900 yuan (about RM50,600). The article notes that the Emgrand does not offer driver-assistance features such as autonomous emergency braking or Level 2 assistance, and base models have two airbags; six are available at extra cost. The Malaysian S70 is expected to offer more safety equipment, while its facelifted turbo version is expected to receive the new styling.
