Gotion High-Tech announced progress on its solid-state batteries at the 2026 World Manufacturing Convention in Hefei. The company set targets of 400 Wh/kg energy density and a price equivalent to 1 yuan per watt-hour, or about $150 per kWh. Its Jinshi cells use a sulfide-based solid electrolyte; Gotion previously cited an energy density of 350 Wh/kg.
The company says the cells underwent puncture and high-temperature tests without producing smoke or flames. It is also preparing for commercialization, following a 2 GWh production-line design decision reported in March 2026.
Gotion ranked fifth among China’s battery makers by August 2026 installations, with 4.61 GWh, according to China EV DataTracker. The article presents solid-state batteries as a possible way for the company to strengthen its position as Chinese firms advance plans for trial production and vehicle testing.
