GWM expects its new Haval H7 SUV to reach around 1,000 sales a month in Australia, following strong pre-launch demand. John Kett, the automaker’s Australia and New Zealand chief operating officer, said the model is receiving 100 to 150 pre-orders weekly, and that plug-in hybrid versions make up roughly two-thirds of those orders.
GWM’s broader aim is to rank among the top three brands in the relevant segment, which Kett put at about 2,500 vehicles a month. He said the company would like the H7 to contribute 1,000 monthly sales, with the H6 adding between 500 and 1,000. The H7’s forecast would put it among GWM Australia’s leading models, although the Haval Jolion currently averages 1,850 monthly sales in 2026 and the H6 averages 1,170.
The article compares those figures with year-to-date monthly registration averages of 3,590 for the Toyota RAV4 and 3,900 for the Tesla Model Y. GWM was in seventh place in Australia for the year through October, with 49,376 registrations, up 12.8 percent; it remained more than 11,000 behind Hyundai. GWM was the country’s second-best-selling Chinese brand, behind BYD.
GWM plans to broaden its SUV range with the Jolion Max and Ora 5 Plus, both due in the first quarter of 2027. The Jolion Max is planned in plug-in hybrid and electric versions, while the Ora 5 Plus is expected to be electric-only.
