Hongqi plans to bring the EHS4 to Australia as part of its new HQ-branded lineup, scheduled to arrive in early 2027. The SUV, previously revealed as the Hongqi Global SUV, is closely related to the Leapmotor B10 and uses the same LEAP3.5 architecture, with different front and rear styling. Hongqi has also detailed the model for Nepal and Bangladesh, and it has been spotted testing in Australia.
Specifications published for the Bangladesh-market E-HS4 include a 160kW, 240Nm rear electric motor and a 67.1kWh LFP battery. Its 400V system supports DC fast charging at up to 168kW. Those figures match the Australian B10’s specifications, rather than the updated Chinese-market B10, which uses an 800V system. The Hongqi’s listed dimensions are 4520mm long, 1875mm wide and 1645mm tall, although its Nepalese and Bangladeshi specifications differ on wheelbase. The cabin has an 8.8-inch instrument display and 14.6-inch infotainment screen, along with a revised dashboard and other distinct trim.
In Nepal, the EHS4 starts at 59.99 lakh, equivalent to about A$55,700 when launched; the article compares that with the MG S5 EV at 55.99 lakh, or about A$51,310. Hongqi’s Australian range is to include the EHS4, EHS5 and E-HS9. Before the EHS4 arrives, the full-size E-HS9 is due to begin customer deliveries in mid-January 2027.
The vehicle stems from cooperation between Leapmotor and FAW, Hongqi’s state-owned parent. The companies signed a development agreement in March 2025, and FAW later agreed to invest 3.74 billion yuan for a five per cent stake in Leapmotor. Leapmotor Australia chief Andy Hoang said customers would judge the competing models on factors such as value and dealer support.
