Epicland — the new marque created by Dongfeng Motor and Huawei — has rolled out its debut vehicle, the X9, a large extended-range SUV. Limited-time pricing opens at 279,800 yuan (about $41,460) and tops out at 359,800 yuan, undercutting the regular band of 289,800–369,800 yuan. Marketed as a "second-generation family flagship," the three-row, six-seater takes on the Aito M9 and Li Auto's L9. Pre-orders began August 18 from 299,800 yuan, and the brand reported more than 20,000 orders within the first day.

Under the skin is an 800-volt architecture that refills the battery from 20% to 80% in 18 minutes. Two packs — 51.46 kWh and 74.29 kWh — deliver up to 465 km of electric range on the CLTC cycle, and with the 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender topped up, total range reaches 1,410 km CLTC or 1,120 km WLTC. Rear-drive versions make 300 kW, while all-wheel-drive grades offer 350 kW or 450 kW combined; the flagship covers 0–100 km/h in 4.81 seconds. The body stretches 5,301 mm on a 3,120 mm wheelbase, leaving 484 liters of cargo room behind all six seats.

Huawei hardware is central to the package. Qiankun ADS 5 driver assistance is standard across the lineup, backed by an 896-channel, dual-optical-path imaging-grade LiDAR, with the top trim adding three high-precision solid-state units for four LiDARs in total. The HarmonySpace 6 cockpit runs on a pair of adjoining 17.2-inch 3.4K screens, while the Qiankun Chitu-based chassis brings dual-chamber air suspension, electronically controlled dampers and rear-wheel steering that shrinks the turning radius to 5.3 meters.

The X9's arrival, just one day after Aistaland — Huawei's partner brand with GAC — launched its GX7, underscores how quickly Huawei is broadening its auto footprint outside the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance: both new marques come out of Huawei's Qiankun business but sit beyond HIMA. Epicland is also preparing a battery-electric SUV on a 1,000-volt platform, with pre-sales in November and deliveries from December, and has floated the idea of battery swapping.
